This species is more elongate than most Ladybird beetles. It is also unusual for its overall color, which is somewhat variable but not the orange typically found on ladybirds. Most commonly this background color ranges from pink to salmon.

The Spotted Lady Beetle is a widespread species with several described subspecies.
