Hemisphaerota cyanea spends its life on palmettos in the gulf coast states. It is the only species of Hemisphaerota found in the U.S.
Blackwelder (1946) listed seven Neotropical species in the genus At least two more species have been described since then.
The larvae of Hemisphaerota cyanea have interesting habits and are shown in the immature coleoptera section of this site.
