Unlike many other Elater larvae, the larvae in subfamily Agrypninae are somewhat flattened rather than cylindrical.
The subfamily includes seventeen genera. Some of those illustrated on this site are genus Lacon, and genus Alaus, the latter the genus of the Eyed Click Beetle and the Blind Elater.
The larva shown here was found under bark, with a fly larva feeding nearby. Some under-bark Click Beetle larvae are predaceous on small invertebrates, while others feed on plant material such as Slime Molds.
