Megapodagrionidae (14 genera, all Neotropical) is a family of long-legged dragonflies that perch with their wings held flat at the sides.  Megapodagrion megalopus is the only species in its genus.  It is fairly widespread across the Amazon basin, and in Guyana's Essequibo River valley.  It does not frequent open water.  Its preferred habitat is rain forest, where it seldom flies high, and perches on low vegetation or on the ground.
