In genus Membracis the pronotum is flattened and its upper edge forms an arc. The foretibiae are flattened broadly (Godoy, Miranda, and Nishida, 2006).

Groups of nymphs are sometimes tended by ants; the adults are solitary.

One of several congeners with similar markings is Membracis foliatafasciata.
