Length: 13-14 mm
Edessa is a large, mostly tropical genus with only two species that make it into the United States, and none into Canada. The other species found in the United States is Edessa bifida, which is found in the southeast and south into northern South America.
The bug shown here made its home at Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge in Maryland. While Edessa florida is the most likely ID, a look at the venter is needed for a more certain identification, thus we are recording this one as Edessa cf. florida.
