Length: 10-12 mm
The Small Milkweed Bug, Lygaeus kalmii, has a very large range (see map below). Eastern specimens typically lack the prominent white spots on the black portion of the wing, at the posterior end of the bug.
Even when temperatures are chilly, these insects can be seen in milkweed pods feeding on the seeds.
