Family: Formicidae

Subfamily: Formicinae

Tribe: Camponotini

Camponotus herculeanus is a holarctic, cold-tolerant species found in Europe, Asia, and North America.

There are records of this species from every province and territory of Canada except Nunavut. The species may be present in Nunavut, but prior to April 1999 any records from Nunavut would have been recorded as from the Northwest Territories (in 1999 Nunavut was formed from the eastern half of the Northwest Territories).

The map at the bottom of this page shows the Nearctic records of Camponotus herculeanus. Provinces, territories, and states with records of the species are shown in blue-green. Note that the California records are from high elevations.
