Oak is mentioned in the common name, and indeed the larvae of Euclea delphinii are commonly found on species of oak. The larvae also may feed on many other species of trees, including apple, basswood, cherry, hickory, sycamore, maple, and hackberry.

The adults commonly appear at lights.
