Subfamily Larentiinae

Brehm et al. (2011) state that the characteristics of subfamily Larentiinae have not been definitively stated. Nevertheless, they state that widespread traits of the subfamily seem to include:

• Bands on the forewing are multiple rather than single
• Males lack hair pencils on the hind tibiae
• Hindwing vein Sc+R fuses with Rs for half the length of the cell or more.

The monophyly of Larentiinae is widely accepted.
