Family: Mantoididae

Subfamily: Mantoidinae

Length: Often 15 - 25 in the genus

Mantoididae is a small family of small mantises.  The family is found only in the Neotropics.

Members of the genus Mantoida are externally quite similar to each other. While the geographic location can offer some clues, examination of the male genitalia is often required to provide a reasonably sure identification to species.

Photo location: Montagne de Kaw, French Guiana, 31 May 2011.

Determined by Julio Rivera, Royal Ontario Museum.
