In Tetrix arenosa, on the pronotum look for a median ridge that is not very high or pronounced. A band of white may also be present on the pronotum. The fastigium is wider than the eyes and projects slightly beyond the eyes.

This species overwinters as an adult. It is found in eastern North America and as far west as Oklahoma and Texas.
