Mockford (1993) notes that females in this subfamily are wingless. He gives these further characteristics of the subfamily: "Hind femur with a lateral protuberance. Pretarsal claw without basal seta. Subgenital plate with t-shaped sclerite."
Liposcelis is a large genus which is the only Nearctic member of subfamily Liposcelidinae.
